Just like Summer

We spent our morning shopping for shorts since the temperatures unexpectedly soared. We spent the afternoon/evening pretending it was a beautiful summer night. It seemed so much like June that it was weird to think Spencer has preschool tomorrow!

I stood in the middle of the road for awhile so Spencer could ride his new bike. He's having a hard time getting the hang of the brakes.

I set up a little pool after Spencer and Sophie both tried squeezing into a plastic container (the under-the-bed style) with water in it. I missed getting pictures of Carson and Spencer enjoying the water.

Sophie loved the little bit of water but this summer may be a little rough if she doesn't figure out that swimming suits are suppose to be wet. Whenever her clothes get wet at home, she instantly strips.

After I gave in and let her get nakie, she laid in the pool with her chin on the edge for the longest time!

I somehow missed getting any pictures of this little guy tonight, so here's one from Sunday at my mom's. He loved hanging out in the grass. He is so content being outside.

I can't wait for more warm, sunny, TV free days!

Radiating

I'm in a funk and I don't like it.
I re-arranged my house and can't seem to put it back together.
I tried to scrapbook the old fashioned way and got a headache.
We're out of toilet paper.
I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow.
I hate grocery shopping.
I'm bored but can't go to sleep.
I think my baby may have a fever (thermometer under arm was 100.7, do you add a degree?)
My husband told me that I'm "...big. Not fat, just big."
One of his co-workers said the same thing.
And it's a little bit okay, we're mean, oops, I mean real and stuff to each other like that.
I think I saw a spider tonight crawling on my couch.
I think I may have hallucinated.
I can feel the crabbiness radiating off my body.

Does announcing that your crabby to your family make you excused from any episodes that may occur during your crabbiness?

Last Week

This little girl turned two last Monday.

She was afraid of the candles on her cupcake. She kept telling me "Hot, Hot!" as she moved further and further away from them! For her birthday, Jason worked hard transforming this book shelf (we forgot to take a picture of just the shelf, here it's already had the peg board added along with a piece on the front, and the hole for the sink cut out)...

into this kitchen. I still need to change the frame into a chalkboard/grocery list. And we're thinking of adding a small shelf above the hooks. He did an amazing job on it, even the faucet is hand-made.

Last Tuesday, I was served cookies and ice cream (thank you Grandma Lo) from her kitchen.

Last Wednesday, I was in charge of my first mutual activity with the Young Women for their Personal Progress. We compared the way plants grow to the way our testimonies grow. We then planted wheat grass and modge-podged on a monogram.

While preparing for the activity, I gathered almost all of the plants in my house and displayed them together. When Jason got home he decided he really liked it (I was a little on the fence about it) so I left it. The branches are just some from a bush that I brought in a month or so ago and forced them to bloom inside. They're getting pretty shriveled and I've loved them and don't know what to replace them with.

On Thursday, Spencer got all decked out in his 'early' birthday presents from my parents. He loves new pajamas and he wore them all day while trying out his roller blades. He's done way better on them than we thought he would!

Later that afternoon we taped a tube from a roll of wrapping paper to our door and the kids rolled marbles down it and tried to catch them in a basket.

On Friday, I started getting ready for Spencer's birthday and Easter. My dad picked the kids up that evening and took them to the store and to a parking-lot carnival next to the sporting goods store they went to. While they were gone and Kimmie watched Carson, I managed to get all my housework done and made the kids their birthday shirts (see my last post). I loved making them!

On Saturday, we had a few of Spencer's cousins and friends over for his party.
On Sunday, we had a nice, quiet Easter at my mom's. The pictures from Sat. and Sun. are still on my camera and I'm too lazy to upload them, so I'll have to add them later.

I can't even remember the number of trips I made to Wal-Mart. It was a crazy, busy week but I enjoyed almost all of it!

His Big Day

He's been counting down ever since his cousin Colton had his 5th birthday on the 1st. As we counted down the days until the month of April, he told me at least 3 or 4 times a week that he had a stomach ache and was nervous because Colton's birthday was before his.

And if that wasn't painful enough, he watched this little girl turn 2 on Monday, the 6th. I wonder how old he will be before he gets over the injustice of having his 'little' sister have her big day just a few days before his.

And in typical two year old style, this was the best shot I could get out of about a dozen...The other ones showcase her trying to rip her shirt off because she didn't want me talking about her "two shirt" anymore. She just wanted to see her grandma goude and katie. At 8:30 in the morning.

I can tell it's going to be a great day....(dripping with sarcasm).

Heaven in the form of Chocolate

This was yesterday's breakfast.

Okay, I really had two. The last two.
And then I cried.

My cousin Mallary (who doesn't blog yet, but she's thinking about it) baked these up as a thank you. And now, since I'm spotlighting her and her fantastic cookies, I'm hoping for another thank you. In the form of these delicious cookies, of course. Because the four I might have eaten, just weren't enough. Or was it five?

Does anyone else...

ever find themselves wishing for a diet coke, a house-keeper, and two tranquilizers on a sunny afternoon?

If you're doing the math and can't figure out why I would only want two tranquilizers, not three, it's because Spencer's as close to a house-keeper as I'm gonna get, and if I use just the right combination of threats and bribery, him and I can get a lot done in a day...

It's been a long time

I haven't been feeling the blogging bug lately but there's something about listening to your husband yell at his laptop that makes a girl want to come and caress the keys of her Mac...

When we were in Portland we bought a laptop. We initially had a hard time doing it because we've been so in love with our Mac, but couldn't afford, or justify paying for a MacBook and couldn't imagine ourselves going back to a Windows operated system. But we had a giftcard (thanks to my mom and dad!) and found a great clearance deal so we did it. Jason uses it for his on-line classes and bought a pen tablet to make his math class easier and he loves his laptop. And I love not being kicked off this computer when he gets home. He's also become quite smitten with it's voice recognition feature.

Which I really don't get.

I would much rather use my mouse than tell my computer what to do. Maybe it's because I spend all day telling my children what to do and therefore don't want to have one more thing to 'speak' to. Especially on days like today when the computer seems to be listening as well as the kids do.

For example:

Right this very minute, he has told the computer 6 times to "STOP LISTENING". Why not just grab the mouse and turn the stupid feature off!!! It's not like you can threaten it....

"You better listen the next time I tell you to STOP listening OR ELSE...."

That just doesn't really work. Or how about this... He seriously just asked his computer if it understands insults. And he just called it a name...Really? I wonder if its some kind of power trip. I just asked him why he doesn't just turn the feature off and use the mouse since it would be easier, right? I think he replied something like, "Well, it wouldn't be easier if the stupid thing worked!" But there was so much anger and frustration in his voice that my laughter blocked out what he was really saying.

I haven't had entertainment this good in awhile...I think next time I'll try to video tape him telling his computer over and over and over and over to "Start listening" followed by a mumbled, "Your stupid," followed by "Stop listening. Your done. I've had enough of your crap."

And maybe some time this week between birthdays, and church activities, colds and grocery shopping, laundry and napping, diaper rashes and phone calls, work and cleaning, fighting and eating, I'll sit down and post a few pictures of the FUN times that have been happening around this place...

For posterity's sake, of course...
